Traces of Sound

What is sound when it is not perceived as audible? How does it affect us? What can it tell us and reveal? And how do you investigate it?

Ripples in black and orange

At a half-day seminar with invited speakers, the Sound Environment Center at Lund University, in collaboration with the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm and The Royal Swedish Academy of Music, focuses on "inaudible" sound.
We will hear about music archeology's interest in ancient music and how to investigate it's silent traces. About laboratory work, where artificial sound is created through visual announcements. On the use of sound by physics for measurements of the smallest units of the universe. About the brain's influence of sub-harmonic sounds. And about art that allows the physical impact of sounds on the body to act as a turning point.

It's about sound. But we do not hear it.
