Incentive funding for research applications

Grants for writing research applications in the field of sound and sound environments
The announced amount of incentive funding for writing project applications for research in sound and sound environments is SEK 50,000 per application and will be paid as a lump sum to the main applicant's department upon receipt of the submitted application. Interdisciplinary project applications and applications with participating researchers from different faculties will be given priority.

A statement on the relevance and necessity of the project must be attached to the application. A budget must also be attached, as well as a signed approval from your head of department. The outcome of the application must be reported afterwards. Those who have been awarded a grant leading to an approved project application are expected to write a brief popular scientific text about the project within one year, which can be published on the Sound Environment Centre's website.

Who can apply?
If you apply for a grant, you will be responsible for the project. You must be employed at Lund University when the application is submitted and until requisition of the funds. Your employment must correspond to at least 20 per cent of a full-time position. Your employment may be temporary but not intermittent (hourly employment). We accept applications from doctoral students as long as they meet the employment requirement.

The department where the applicant is employed is the organisation that requisitions and administers the grant. The head of department/director must sign the application and guarantee that the employment meets the requirements for the grant. The funds must be requisitioned no later than six months after the decision.

The application must include:

  • Project application: brief project description (max. 2 A4 pages)
  • Account of the project's relevance and necessity
  • CVs for participating researchers (max. 1 A4 page)
  • Information about the intended financier
  • Information about the department/unit where the applicant is employed and wishes to locate the project to

The application must be signed by the main applicant and by the head of department/unit where the applicant is employed.

Deadline for submitting applications is 11 March 2026. Send the application and attached documents electronically to: coordinator [at] lmc [dot] lu [dot] se (coordinator[at]lmc[dot]lu[dot]se). There are no specific application forms.

Applications are reviewed by a working group within the Sound Environment Centre's board. Decisions are made by the Sound Environment Centre's board at its meeting on 26 March 2026. Notification of grants can be expected within one month of the application deadline.
