The Sound of Public Space

Seminar, June 17 2026, Copenhagen

Megaphone in nature

The Sound Environment Centre has been working with the organisers of a forthcoming exhibition series entitled The Sound of hosted at Moderna Museet Malmö and the Museum of Contemporary Art Roskilde.

In connection with these exhibitions we are also supporting a one-day seminar at the Sound Wells/Frederiksberg Library in Copenhagen on Wednesday 17 June.

The Sound of Public Space brings together artists, researchers and curators to ask: who owns sound in public space? What are the political, sensory and ethical dimensions of sound as a form of public intervention? It is also the premiere of Italian artist Francesco Fonassi’s newly installed sound work at the Sound Wells, and will be followed by dinner in Copenhagen for those who wish to join.
