Meri Kytö is a senior researcher and an adjunct professor in auditory culture studies at the University of Eastern Finland. Her publications have tackled sonic domestication, articulations of acoustic privacy, soundscapes of political protest, busking, football fans and public libraries. She is part of the Academy of Finland funded research project Auditory Cultures, Mediated Sounds and Constructed Spaces, researching people’s experiences, perceptions and actions in urban and commercial environments especially regarding background musics. Currently she’s also writing on sensory agency and technology, working on a book manuscript on cochlear implants as soundscape arrangers. Meri's website is: merikyto.net.
